The Fast Trak Sport has become synonymous with fast and lightweight tires that are able to handle the most technical courses and the most grueling conditions. This model redefines what was thought possible with a cross-country tread design. Our Block-In-Block design uses a taller adaptable inner block to pierce the ground and claw for traction. The larger outer structure supports the inner block for additional speed, traction, support and stable handling. The trails in our neck of the woods get pretty hairy, pretty fast, so we've found them to be the perfect testing ground for tough, nimble wheels like our Traverse 27.5 Carbon. The steep climbs and descents helped inspire some pretty radical designs, and most importantly, left us with no doubt that these wheels will exceed your expectations. Let's talk about those expectations. They include everything from the ability to stay true after launching off drops to being light enough to efficiently pedal to the top of a climb—and they all begin with the rim. Our engineers knew they wanted carbon fiber, and with the inclusion of our Zero Bead Hook design, they were able to implement a continuous fiber layup across the sidewall and rim bed. And when paired with a whopping 30-millimeter internal rim width, you get a wheel that's super resilient to impact with low rolling resistance and incredible traction. You'll also find that it helps prevent "burping" during hard cornering, while making tubeless set up quick and easy. A wider rim does a variety of things for ride performance—it better supports the tire for increased confidence and grip, and it affords you the ability to run lower pressures to aid in the aforementioned, as well as spreading impact out over a larger surface area to reduce the risk of damage during impact. And when you combine this girth with the notoriously nimble and playful 27.5 platform, you’re left with an incredibly stiff, quick to accelerate wheelset that climbs just as well as it shreds descents. After designing the perfect trail rim, we kept our lightweight and durable design properties in mind with the wheel build, hand-lacing the rims DT Swiss 350 Classic hubs via 28 (front) and 28 (rear) DT Swiss Competition Race spokes and brass Pro Lock nipples. Inside, you'll find sealed cartridge bearings and a 36t quick engagement ratchet system for quick accelerations. We also wanted to ensure that each wheel was built correctly, and we found that this could only be achieved by hand. Machines, we found, have a tendency to miss little mistakes that humans would otherwise catch. Finally, with the 15x110 / 12x148mm variant, you receive all of the benefits that Boost spacing offers. By increasing the width of the front and rear hub flanges, and in turn, increasing frame and fork clearance and stiffness, you obtain a stiffer, stronger, and more durable system at a minor weight penalty. RIDE POSITION A usual complaint from new riders trying to get into the cycling groove is feeling uncomfortably perched forward with too much weight on their wrists and having to crank their necks backwards just to be able to see in traffic. We specifically design our Explorers to remedy this. With extra-long head tubes to push handlebar height up, shorter top tubes to pull handlebars closer to the saddle, 4-inch rise handlebars that sweep back at a natural hand-grasp angle, and long-quilled or angle-adjustable stems that allow for a wide range of adjustment to tune handle bar height and reach perfectly for each rider. COMFORT SADDLE Our super-plush saddle features memory foam padding (Explorer Sport) or extra high-quality polyurethane padding (Explorer) for optimum support with maximum comfort. The slip-resistant suede-type top prevents sliding and the burnished side panels reduce leg friction while pedaling. Elastomer springs also help to soak up road vibrations. PUMP UP THE VOLUME Our Explorer tires are ready for anything; they roll smoothly on pavement but offer a large 2.1” footprint and side knobs so that traction off the beaten path is never an issue.
