Crank Brothers began as a side project for Carl Winefordner and Frank Hermansen, two design engineers and cyclists. They combined their names, love for cycling and passion for functional and elegant design to form Crank Brothers. In 1997, the first product bearing the company's name debuted, an ingenious new tire lever called the Speed Lever. And since, Crank Brothers has released a wonderful array of excellent tools, components and accessories.
There’s a simplicity and minimalism noticeable across the entire Crank Brothers product line. The Egg Beater pedal, the design at the heart of Crank Brothers' pedal line, is a perfect example of the company’s simplistic and fresh take on components. They don’t take an existing product and see how they can make it lighter, better or look a little different. Nope, design at Crank starts from the ground up and continues until they nail all the details and offer a truly revolutionary product.
And, while they certainly spread Crank Brothers' fame, did you know that the company offers far more than pedals? They also make handy multi-tools, superior pumps, headsets, bottom brackets and more. New to the line-up is their hydraulic dropping seatpost, the Joplin, their remarkable Cobalt wheelsets and Directset headsets.
As Carl puts it, “Every Crank Brothers product is the result of something that happened during our rides and usually starts with "I wonder if...” With this refreshing approach, you can be sure that every tool, component and accessory is purposefully designed and sure to improve all your rides and take your bicycle to the next level!
